THE STORYTELLER'S BIBLE
Act IV - The Prophets, Scene 15
Script by Bob Allen
For four voices

Scene 15

1  2  3  4

VOICE FOUR:          The last prophet until John the Baptist bursts on the scene.

VOICE THREE:        The last Word from God before four hundred years of a silent heaven.

VOICE ONE:             Malachi!

VOICE TWO:            My messenger!

VOICE FOUR:          The condition of the people? Despicable.

VOICE THREE:        They expected God to be satisfied with their lame, blind and diseased offerings.

VOICE ONE:             They expected God to be pleased with the corruption and negligence rampant among their priests.

VOICE TWO:            They expected God to overlook the profaning of their marriage vows and their callous attitude toward divorce.

VOICE FOUR:          They expected God to look the other way when they robbed Him of tithes and offerings.

VOICE THREE:        The provision of God’s mercy?  Abundant.

VOICE ONE:             To replace their worthless offerings He would send the sun of righteousness with healing in His wings.

VOICE TWO:            As a substitute for their faithless priests He would send Elijah to make ready the way of the Lord and make His paths straight.

VOICE FOUR:          In response to His stated hatred for divorce He would work in the hearts of husbands and wives, restoring the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.

VOICE THREE:        With their change of heart there would be food in the house of God and He would open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing until there was not enough room to receive it.

ALL:                           The prophets!

VOICE ONE:             Men called by God.

VOICE TWO:            To call men back to God!

VOICE THREE:        Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another:

VOICE FOUR:          and the Lord hearkened!
